The Devil’s Lies and God’s Truth to Help You Overcome
The Devil’s lies about who God is:
Lie: “God is not really the one and only true God.”
The truth: “Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.” Deuteronomy 6:4-5, NKJV
Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You, as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him. And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”

Lie: “God is not good”
The truth:
“For your Maker is your husband,
The Lord of hosts is His name;
And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel;
He is called the God of the whole earth.”

Lie: “Jesus was just a good person; He was a man.”
The truth:
“I and My Father are one.”

Lie: “God doesn’t know everything.” (With this lie come all the other lies below.)“You can get away with being able to sin.”
The truth:
“For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.”
Lie: “God doesn’t really know your future; He is not all-knowing, and He doesn’t really know you.”
The truth:
“ For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Lie: “God doesn't know how to protect you. You have to protect yourself.”
The truth:
“But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.”
Lie: “God knows all your sinful past and your thoughts; He won’t forgive you. How could He forgive someone like you? He doesn't really love you”
“God doesn't know how to help you.”
“God doesn’t want to help you.”
“Your situation is unique; No one has ever really gone through what you are going through.”
The truth:
“O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thoughts afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O Lord, You know it altogether. You have hedged me behind and before, and laid Your hand upon me.”

The Devil’s lies about God’s actions:
Lie: “God doesn’t really love you.”
The truth:
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8, NKJV
Lie: “God doesn't really care about you.”
The truth:
“Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”
1 Peter 5:7, NKJV
Lie: “God doesn’t want you to have peace. If He did, then why is your life so hard?”
The truth:
“For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Lie: “God is not really fair. Think about how hard your life is and how much easier other people's lives are.”
The truth:

Lie: “Jesus was a crazy person.”
The truth:

Lie: “God has given up on you.” (With that come a lot of other lies that go on and on.)
The truth:
Isaiah 41:10, NKJV “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
Note: this one can work for the other sections as well.
Lie: “God doesn’t stop bad things from happening.”
“Why does God let bad things happen?”
The truth:
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28, NKJV
Lie: “God is not real.”
The truth:
“For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,”

The Devil’s lies about God’s intentions:
Lie: “God only has selfish plans.” (With that lie come all that are below.)
The truth:
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16, NKJV
Lie: “God doesn’t want to see you succeed.”
The truth:
“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he who condemns? Lie: “God is mean and wants to send people He doesn’t like to Hell.”
The truth:
“The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.”

The truth:
“One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple.”

Lie: “God wants us to work for Him like a slave.”
The truth:

Lie: “God doesn’t want to know you on a personal level.”
The truth:
“I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own.”
The truth: John 15:15, NKJV “No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.”
The Devil’s lies about your identity:
Lie: You are not a child of God and you are not adopted by the Father.
The truth: 2 Corinthians 6:18, NKJV “I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the Lord Almighty.”
The truth: Galatians 3:26, NKJV “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.”
Lie: The way He made you is flawed (not perfect). Usually this lie comes with, “I’m stupid, ugly, a failure, shameful” and “I'm supposed to be someone or something different than how I’m now.”
The truth: Genesis 1:27, NKJV “So God created man in his own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”
The truth: 2 Samuel 22:31, NKJV “As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.”
The truth: Psalm 139:13-14, NKJV “For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.”
Lie: You are too far from God; your mistakes you have made are too bad.
The truth: Psalm 139:7-8, NKJV “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven You are there; if I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.”
Lie: You have tried and tried again and keep failing, so God is done with you.
The truth: Micah 7:8, NKJV “Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; When I fall, I will arise; When I sit in darkness, The Lord will be a light to me.”
The truth: Philippians 1:6, NKJV “Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;”
The Devil’s lies about who you are and your destiny:
Lie: When you die there is nothing but a grave.
The truth: John 11:25, NKJV “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.”
Lie: You will amount to nothing.
The truth: Isaiah 43:4, NKJV “Since you were precious in My sight, You have been honored, And I have loved you; Therefore I will give men for you, And people for your life.”
Lie: You can’t change.
The truth: 2 Corinthians 5:17, NKJV “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
Lie: You can't go on.

Lie: You were born to do X when God created me to do Y.

Lie: You were hurt so you can’t forgive, love, overcome, move on …etc.
The truth: Psalms 55:22, NKJV “Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.”
Lie: You can do it on your own.

Lie: You're just an ordinary person and can’t do extraordinary things.

Lie: You are worthless.

Lie: You are the sum of your failures.

Lie: They are against you.
