YOU ARE

CALLED

TO TEACH

YOU CAN DO THIS !!

I want to let you know that God wants you to GO forth and make disciples in all the world.

here is YOUR STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE TO TEACH HOLY CLUBS FIRM FOUNDATIONS

  1. READ OVER THE GOALS.

  2. WATCH THE VIDEO "PREPARING TO TEACH FIRM FOUNDATIONS".

  3. READ THE "HOW TO PREPARE TO TEACH".

  4. CHOOSE YOUR FIRM FOUNDATIONS GROUP AND READ THE TEACHING NOTES.

  5. WATCH THE VIDEO ASSOCIATED WITH YOUR TEACHING.

  6. WRITE DOWN YOUR OWN NOTES TO HELP YOU TEACH.

  7. CALL YOUR FACILITATOR IF NEEDED.

  8. PRACTICE.

  9. NOW YOUR READY.

STEP 1 - GOALS

  1. HONOR GOD – Jesus said, “You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.” (John 15:16) Today, you can honor God as you do your part to build His Kingdom.

  2. PERSONAL GROWTH – You will grow in the knowledge of God as you learn from rich Biblical content before you teach.

  3. ABILITY TO TEACH – You get a chance to teach. It is important for you to go forth and make disciples. Part of making disciples is that you get to teach.

STEP 2 - WATCH VIDEO

STEP 3 - READ

  1. PREPARE – (READ & BIBLE) take time to READ of the Teaching Notes and Read the BIBLE verses. When you read over the Teaching Notes this will help you learn the content. When you read the Bible verse this will help you grow you heart in God’s truth. It is important that you teach strong Biblical Truth and not your own opinion. So, stay within the boundaries of the notes and Bible verses, and feel free to teach/reword the notes in your own style or language (teach in a way that you are comfortable with).

  2. PRAY – Take time to pray before, during, and after you are preparing for your teaching session. This helps you stay humble, and open to the grace of God anointing you to teach. Also, pray for the people in your group by name. Connecting to God’s heart for the people you are teaching is a sure way teaching with meekness and love.

  3. SHOW PASSION – Smile. Don’t hide behind notes, but let your heart and personality come forth. You can better do this by preparing ahead of time, and taking your teaching time seriously. Seriously, you matter to God. You have to start somewhere. Practice and then teach your Firm Foundations group.

  4. DON’T COMPARE – Comparison kills confidence. While confidence is found in what God thinks and feels about you. When you compare yourself to other people you will either hurt yourself or someone else. If you compare yourself to someone better than you, then you will never measure up, and hurt yourself in your mind and heart. If you compare yourself to someone that you are better than, then you will hurt them by thinking you are better than others.

  5. KEEP YOUR STYLE – God called you. You are uniquely created by God. Jesus announced, “You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.” (John 15:16) So, do not try to teach like someone else. Use your own gifting, skills, and style.

  6. 20 MINUTES LIMIT – Practice to finish in the 20-minute time limit. Try not to hurry through it and finish really quick. Also, don’t go longer than the 20 minutes as a common curtesy to others.

  7. EYE CONTACT – look everyone in the eye at one point during your teaching. (Remember, you have already prayed for them so you care about them.) When you maintain eye contact then you show confidence in who you are and that you have a grasp of the content. This helps people to engage in what you are saying. Remember, Jesus came down to earth and looked real people in the eyes. He did not stay in Heaven and take selfies with His Dad. Therefore, you should be real, authentic, inspiring, and engaging with people.

  8. QUESTIONS? – When questions arise try to answer them quickly. Don’t spend lots of time on questions. Instead, try to hold all questions to the end.

  9. TELL STORY – Tell a story. This is when you share a story which has these three parts: Truth, Parable, and Personal. Try to finish this in 3-5 minutes.

    1. TRUTH – This is the main Truth from the Teaching Notes

    2. PARABLE – Tell a story from common situations around you. Compare your parable to the Truth mentioned above. Jesus spoke in Parables on multiple occasions.

    3. PERSONAL – Tell a story from your life, or comparison to a situation around you. Compare your story to the Truth mentioned above.

STEP 4 - READ THE TEACHING NOTES YOU WERE ASSIGNED

Your Facilitator should have assigned you a group to teach from in the Holy Clubs Firm Foundations. You get to teach. So open to the group you are assigned and read the notes. It is important to look over the Bible verses that go with the text, and it is important to use this time to take any notes that you can. Also, if you have any questions write them down and share them with your Facilitator.

STEP 5 - watch the video associated with your teaching

This step is not mandatory, but it may be helpful. There is a QR code on each page. (This is a computer generated bar code). Just point your phones camera at the QR code and it will automatically bring up the teaching video. Again, you do not have to watch the teaching, but it may be helpful. (IMPORTANT, do not show the video during your small group time. You are supposed to teach. Remember, God wants you to develop as a teacher, so now is the time to start.)

STEP 6 - write down your own notes to help you teach

This step is important. Whenever I am getting ready to teach I want to take notes. This helps me to learn and remember. As I write down notes I learn more from the teaching. (This is especially helpful when you read the Bible verses associated with the text). Also, as I  write down notes it forces me to remember what I am going to teach.

STEP 7 - call your facilitator if needed

This step is not mandatory, but may be helpful. If you have any questions or concerns now is the time to reach out and ask them for help. Remember, you have got this, God called you to GO forth and make disciples.

STEP 8 - practice

This step is very helpful. Take time to practice what you are going to teach ahead of time. If possible get a friend or family member to listen and give you feedback. Remember you only have 20 minutes so don't go to fast, and share a story at the end, which helps to explain your main point. If you have to just read the teaching. That is ok, but try to add or change things to your own words. You get to do this.

STEP 9 - now you'RE ready

Ok, all you have to do is show up and teach. Remember God loves you and called you, uniquely you, to GO forth and make disciples.
